Biker Friendly Camper Tips – Fall 2013

The truth is that there aren’t many people who decide to go camping with their motorcycle. However, if you choose to do so at some point, you can be sure that you won’t be the only one. It is good to know that there is a lot of available information on such trips for you to know where to go and what to bring.

Maintenance

If your bike is in good shape, it will be a thrill to ride on it. This is why it is important to take the time to prepare your bike. While you are on the road, you should be constantly checking the headlights and the pressure in the wheels. The most important aspect to think about is to make sure that you are visible for the other drivers.

Tents

Since you are going camping, it is a must for you to have a tent. Look for those that take little space. Also you have the possibility to get an inflatable tent. It is also a good idea to have spare tent stakes and a plastic drop cloth because you can never know what happens.

Sleeping Bags

The sleeping bag will keep you dry and warm during the night. If the bag gets wet, it takes a lot time for it to dry. This is why it is best to choose a nylon sleeping bag which dries quickly in case it gets wet. In the same time it is also light, which makes it just perfect for traveling on the bike.

Air Pads and Mattresses

The hardcore campers consider the air pads and mattresses a luxury. However, if you can’t sleep all night because you placed your sleeping bag on hard ground and you have to be driving all day, you might reconsider this and claim that the mattress and the pads are the best inventions ever made.

Packing

Whether you choose hard or soft luggage is entirely up to you. The soft bags are cheap, they take little space and they are easily secured to the bike. Hard bags can keep things dry, they can take a beating, and they can be securely fixed to the bike. The downside of the soft bags is that they can get wet and they can shift when you least expect it.

There is a lot to consider before you actually hit the road to make sure that you will have a pleasant trip.
