There are probably not many people who think of England as a country where you can enjoy year-round camping, especially with some of the brutal winters the country’s experienced over the past few years. However, there are quite a few campgrounds that stay open 365 days of the year. Fieldhead Camp Site in Edale, Hope Valley, Derbyshire is one of these.
The campground features 50 sites for tent camping in the charming village of Edale, which is located at the beginning of the famous Pennine Way. The campground can be found at the Moorland Visitor Centre and is only about 500 yards from the village’s train station.
The campground is made up of six small camping fields which make it an ideal place for youth groups as it’s easy to supervise them while teaching them to become independent and self-sufficient at the same time.
Fieldhead Camp Site is popular with mountain bikers and hikers and the location is close to climbing sites such as Burbage and Stanage. There’s a large field for family camping as well as three riverside fields, with one of these for backpackers only. There are several footpaths and the location is aimed at quiet and peaceful stays.
The ground allows dogs, has showers and washrooms, as well as laundry facilities and disabled facilities. There are two pubs and cafes near the campground as well as a general store and post office. Golf, swimming, and horseback riding are also available within five miles from Fieldhead.
