It is very difficult to tent camp in the rain. Camping is an exhilarating experience, but this exhilaration quickly turns into frustration when you are faced with a gloomy rain shower.

Here are some tips to keep you dry and sane until sun comes out again:

Always it is better to weatherproof your camping tent. Even if the sky is blue, you need to place ground cloth on tent floor and rain fly above the tent. Ensure that the floor cloth should not extend beyond the tent edge, because it can cause rain water to enter into the tent.

Placement of the tent is very important. Pitch the tent in the highest part of the ground on your campsite.

It is better to dig a thin trench around the rising side of the tent. It helps to redirect the rain water from running downhill and under the tent.

Ensure that you weatherproof your gear and also yourself. Get a simple wrap in order to keep yourself dry and also some garbage bags to wrap your gear.

Don’t touch the sides of the tent with your body or with your gear when you are inside the tent. If you touch the walls of the tent, moisture will enter into your tent.

One of the best places to pitch a tent in the world is in Norway, due to the country’s right of access for wilderness camping. This means that everybody in Norway is free to camp out in the countryside as long as they abide by a few sensible rules.

These rules state that you have to respect the countryside, landowners and others who are taking advantage of the camping system.

The law states that you can camp out anywhere there is open country and the land isn’t fenced in. You’re also allowed to ski and picnic in these areas whenever you like. The term open country refers to land that isn’t cultivated.

This covers most mountains, shores, forests and bogs. In addition, any islands that are uncultivated are considered to be open country even if they’re on cultivated land.

Any property that is fenced in is considered to be cultivated and private property. This generally includes ploughed fields, meadows, fields with crops, gardens, pastures, plantations, industrial areas, and building plots.

However, you can camp on meadows and fields between certain dates in the fall and winter when the ground is covered with snow or frozen. So in reality, fenced land doesn’t have to be physically fenced in.

The law allows you to sleep under the stars or put up a tent just about anywhere else as long as you are a minimum of 150 meters away from the nearest cabin or house.

If you’d like to camp in the same place for more than two nights you need to get permission from the landowner if there is one. This isn’t necessary in remote areas and the mountains.

You also have to check the laws concerning open fires as they’re not allowed near or in forested regions during certain months in the spring and summer. You’re allowed to pick mushrooms, flowers, and berries in most areas, but there are rules concerning cloudberries.

The right of access makes wilderness camping a wonderful adventure. However, it’s a good idea to read up on the rules before heading over there.

Beach is a sanctuary for most of us and for people who are intensely in love with the marine, sand and sun, nothing hits perfect than spending summer days in beach tent camping.

Camping at the beach is one of the most enjoyable things that you can do at the beach. It combines relaxation and pleasure that you get while spending the time at beach and a feeling of imminence with the nature.

Similar to any camping trip, beach tent camping also needs careful planning. Deciding the place, date and time are not enough, ensure a checklist of everything that you need to bring.

Listen to the weather forecast news because beach tent camping in a thunderstorm is not a fun thing to do. Get all the essentials that you require for the trip, from the most essential gear such as tent, utensils, cookware, to your personal needs such as medicines, suntan lotions, first aid kit, swimsuit, etc.

Create fun activities for your beach tent camping trip. For example, beach volleyball is an entertaining bustle that will strengthen you and act as a healthy workout. If you want to spend quiet time alone, you can bring some books to read or disc player to listen to the songs while looking at the sea waves and sunset.

Another item that you don’t forget while camping is food. Get easy to cook food, but splendid meal that you can eat.

Recreational trailers are big and expensive, and normally need bigger automobiles to tow. On the other hand lightweight trailers are smaller, less expensive and easier to handle.

They are easily towed with the help of mid segment automobiles. Some of the more compact ones can be easily towed by smaller cars and even by motorcycles. These are also known as tent trailers as they are collapsible. Lightweight tent trailers are basically collapsible tents built on trailer base. The tent stays in collapsed condition and can be raised when needed.

Tent trailers usually have amenities similar to the normal RVs. They usually have, heater, fresh water tank, sink, waste water tank and others. Some of them are equipped with showers and toilets too. These tent trailers can accommodate up to 6 people depending on their size.

There are many different types of tent trailers available, depending on the users’ need. These can be designed to suit off road camping, wilderness camping and mostly for use in developed campsites for family camping.

Some of the oldest tent trailers include the Fold a Wall trailer; others in the series include Pony, Banshee, Mustang, Elite and Yearling. The modern tent trailers include aluminum lightweight trailers built completely out of aluminum. The Quicksilver line from Livin’ Lite is a range of aluminum tent trailers. They are light enough to be transported by small cars.

Extremely lightweight tent trailers that can be towed by motorcycles weigh less than 250 pounds. Manufactured by Lees-ure Lite these can be set up in couple of minutes and have clear six feet headroom with screened doors and windows.

Off road trailers are generally constructed for convenient and easy travel. These are small and yet have a surprisingly lot of space. When erected they are not bigger than 10 feet in length. Some popular models include Chaser and Horizon that can hold a lot of material and also have roof racks and awnings for extra storage like kayaks and bicycles.

Tantrax too has a couple of models that can also be customized to suit the buyer’s needs. These off road tent trailers are stylish and yet very functional. Usually built to order, they can also be painted to match your automobile. Folding trailers from Fleetwood measure about 11 feet in length and have shower, cargo deck and full galley.

When looking for new tent trailers you can search for them online or even look through classified ads for used tents.

When camping in the winter you may often end up in places that aren’t sheltered, so having a tent is essential. There are many types of tents available and it’s important you have the right type with you. There are several things to consider when looking for a winter tent.

It needs to be strong so it can stand up to both snow and wind. A four-season tent is a good idea as they come with stronger poles, which make the tent sturdier.

The tent should be able to shed snow. This means the roof is built in a way that will cause the snow to fall off of it. If it doesn’t, the snow can build-up and collapse the tent.

Make sure there’s plenty of room in the tent to store all of your winter clothing and gear. You need to store this in the tent in the event you get snowed in and you will also need the space.

The tent should have a rainfly. If the inner tent wall is breathable and the outside of it has a waterproof rainfly it should help cut down on condensation and supply better insulation. You want the tent to be about 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than it is outside. Your body heat will help in this area too.

Free-standing dome shaped tents are good as they can effectively shed the snow and have quite a bit of room in them. However, check to see if the tent is designed for all seasons as some dome tents are designed for use in three seasons only as they aren’t made to take the weight of snow.

There can be a lot of condensation build-up in a tent in the winter. This typically comes from your breath. The air will rise and when it hits the inside tent wall, the moisture often condenses into small ice particles. If you hang a frost liner in the tent it should let the moisture pass through it and provide an effective layer between the ice particles and you.

It’s a good idea to take extra poles and splints with you in case any of them breaks. A ground sheet should be used to help protect the floor of the tent and the tent should be staked down in the wind and if you leave it to go hiking.

Make sure you remove all of the snow from your boots and clothing when you go to sleep as it will help to cut down on water build-up and condensation, keeping everything drier. The snow could also melt from your body heat and then freeze as ice.

Make sure you don’t cook inside your tent as you could asphyxiate from the carbon monoxide and end up with a lot of condensation from water vapor.

Rain or ground water can take all the enjoyment out of camping and ruin a perfectly good night’s sleep. However, with a bit of know how and some planning, you can make sure that your camping experience is not swamped by the water.

First, a good quality water proof tent is a good idea to buy. The flimsy super market variety may be great for a kid’s night in the back yard, but may not suffice for the real camping experience.

It is a good idea to use water proof solution to the tent. Use a spray or squirt bottle before every camping trip may be a good idea. Apply onto a clean and dry tent for best results.

Also use a seam sealer for the tent. Any leaks it has sprung or seams that are not as secure will need this. It is best to put the sealant on both sides of the seam and then let it dry. Apply a second coat if required.

Lastly, before actually setting out for the camping trip, test the water proofing of the tent by setting it up and spraying it with water to see how effective your efforts were, and if any touch up is required.

Camping is a wonderful outdoor activity, but in case you are a beginner, here are few tips that will ease your vacation. First and most important is to be prepared.

Camping takes certain preparation, without which you risk your outdoor fun. You need to prepare everything you will need, as of course the most important thing is the food and the tent.

Choose well the location of your camping and make sure there is a water resource nearby. In case there is no river, just prepare enough water. Make sure you arrive at the place in the morning, because this will give opportunity to choose well the camping area.

If you arrive at sunset, you wouldn’t be able to look around and examine the camping place. Setting the tent also requires skills, so first practice at home.

Remember, that the tent requires level and firm ground.

Do not place the tent near rivers or on lowest ground, because the water will enter the tent. Avoid setting up the tent under trees with large boughs and try to provide a shelter, even for your tent.

The shelter will keep you from sun and rain and it will open extra cooking space.

While it may be tempting to place your tent in the middle of the campsite or at the edge of the water, it’s not always the most practical thing to do.

While it’s a good idea to pick a site close to water for washing and possibly drinking purposes, your tent shouldn’t be placed too close as you never know how the tides will react if a storm happens to strike.

The tent[camp tent] should also be placed on a higher piece of land if possible to form a natural draining system so you won’t get flooded in the event of a heavy rainfall.

The ground needs to be free of bumps and holes and as smooth as possible for comfort. You should also try to figure out where the sun will be rising in relation to the site as a tent can get very hot and humid in a short period of time.

Camping underneath the branches of a tree can be a good idea as it provides shade, but make sure the branches aren’t dead as they may come crashing down on the tent in heavy winds.

You could be swarmed by mosquitoes as well as other insects and animals if you camp too close to bushes or the woods, especially in damp and swampy areas.

Picking a good area to pitch a tent can make your camping experience a lot more fun and comfortable.

If yes, then you should know that the right camping tent is one thing you need to bring along with you.

Camping tents are a practical shelter that consists of special fabric draped in set poles. It’s a portable and temporary shelter you use when backpacking or doing some outdoor activities.

While most camping tents can be water proof, a man made make shift tent can be cotton which absorbs water and can get heavy as rain pours, soaks water that causes it to drip inside.

Most common camping tents

Dome: Most camping tents you see nowadays are the Dome type. A Dome type is pitched with two poles intersecting in the middle and a screw and socket keeps them firm on the ground. The tensions of both poles keep the tent’s shape and its retention from wind.

Tunnel tent: A tunnel tent is also a camping tent that is kept upright by three hoop poles. These tents stood low and have greater wind retention. Its shape is rectangular and it is open on both ends.

Inflatable air beams: Inflatable air beams can be used as camping tents but is more convenient for recreational activities. Its poles are made of inflatable material that is not widely recommended to camping activities.

Things to consider in choosing a camping tent

Size: In choosing which camping tents to bring, you must know how many people you will be sharing it with. If you decide to bring your own tent, then you must opt for a smaller which will be easier for you to carry. Most camping tents are not designed to accommodate too much luggage, it’s basically designed to fit people and a little of your backpacks.

Weather and climate: You have to consider what would be the weather and climate of your location. If your chosen base camp is high on the mountains, where the wind can easily wipe it off then you have to choose camping tents that has substantial poles.

If you chose to camp in an open area where the sun is not screened by trees, and ultraviolet camping tent is what you need.

Camping tents weight: It pays to have with you a lightweight tent to carry. It’s not practical to bring with you something that brings most of the weight when you can opt for the light weight ones.

For first time buyers, you need to test it first. If the store can perform on the spot lessons, take it. If not, try setting the tent at home using the manual. It is very important to familiarize yourself with your camping tents this will save time, and energy on your part and you can maximize the complete use of the tent.

Do not pack your camping tents when they’re still wet. Prolonged exposure to damp packing will cause the material to sag and wither making it crispy and easily be torn.

If it cannot be avoided, make sure to pitch the tent at home and expose it out to dry. As a camping tent is made of several layers, it is important to make sure all parts of the camping tents are dry.

Choosing the correct camping equipments adds an extra comfort to your camping.

So, proper care of the equipment can also make the camping joyful.

By taking proper care of the camping equipment, you will make the camping experience memorable. What if you planned for a camp and left for the camping and found that the camping tent is ragged?

These sights of the camping tent will spoil the camping experience. So, proper care is needed to maintain the tent in proper condition.

The tent plays an important role in the camping, it gives you shelter, provides space to sleep and gives a completeness to the camping.

By following some tips in tent care, you can maintain the camping tent for years without any problem.

Tent caring tips:

Placing the tent: If you place camping tent in a rocky terrain, it can tear the ground of the tent and can spoil the tent ground. Always choose a terrain which is free of rocks. If it has rocks, clear the camping area without rocks and debris and make sure you are in a smooth surface for camping.

Ground cloth: Always use a ground cloth if camping in rocky terrain, this will protect the ground of the camp and will avoid the tears in the tent ground. A ground cloth will minimize the rocky structures to tear the camp ground and adds an extra softness in the camp. Ground cloth can also avoid the moisture entering into the tent.

Tent care while camping: Never enter the tent with shoes or boots; entering with shoes will bring the outside dust inside the tent and the dirt sticks to the tent making the cleaning harder.

So, prefer leaving the boots outside of the tent to make your cleaning purpose easy. Even after much care, you will end up with some debris or dust inside your tent. Always keep the tent inside clean and hygienic. Always sweep out the unnecessary items in the tent.

Stitch in time: Even after much care, you may some time end up with some shears in the tent. So, always use a sealer to stitch the tent. Add a sealer as extra accessories in the camping kit. The sealer will help you in stitching the tent and make sure that you do not make your tent ragged.

Food in tent: Never place your food in the tent- always hang the food in a level above from the ground. This will avoid the critters to pierce into the tent in the search of food. If you cannot hang the food at least place the food in the car.

Wet tent care: If you are camping in rainy season, your camp will get wet. After your camping in the rain is successful, you need to take care of the tent and make sure the tent does not catch mildew (fungus caused due to dampness). Be sure to dry the tent after camping in the rain.

Dry the tent in the backyards of your house, over the clothesline, patio chairs or fence. If the weather does not permit to dry the tent, you can hang the tent on two nails in the garage and dry it. But, be sure you place the tent in the sun at least once after rain camping.
